What does a Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) do?

A Diesel Particulate Filter (or DPF for short) is designed to trap the particles that are caused by the combustion process and thereby prevent harmful emissions from being pumped into the atmosphere. Like any filter, the DPF will gradually get clogged with the soot that it traps.

What does a catalytic converter do?

A catalytic converter is an emissions component that works to reduce vehicle pollution. It is filled with a chemical catalyst, usually a platinum and palladium mixture and helps to convert the vehicle’s emissions into non-harmful gases. A failed cat converter may trip the engine light, potentially harmful cabin fumes and severely affect the proper running of your vehicle's engine. Checking the condition of your cat converter is relatively simple during your routine service via an emissions test.

Should I fit a performance exhaust?

Fitting a performance exhaust system is a personal preference. Modern standard systems are much more efficient than they used to be, but most car enthusiasts will always look for more. We are experts at designing and fitting exhausts that improve power, fuel economy and that all important exhaust note.

Can you just remove the catalytic converter?

If your vehicle came from the factory with a cat installed then to remain roadworthy, it must always have a working one installed. Removing this part or its core from your system is illegal.

How long does it take to replace my exhaust?

In almost all cases, we can have your vehicle in and out same day with an entirely new system.

Do you do general vehicle servicing?

Many of our workshops offer suspension, brake & general mechanical services as well. Please call us to check the full range available at your local store.

Does my car need aftermarket extractors?

Quality extractors allow your engine to breathe easier, giving improved performance and fuel economy. A vehicle's original exhaust manifold is usually made of cast iron. Our supplied extractors or "Headers" are a cost efficient replacement.

Do I have to replace the whole system?

Usually, much of your existing system will be ok and we just need to replace some of the components. We will inspect your vehicle on site and give you the appropriate advice on this.
