AS AN EX EMPLOYEE, DO NOT TAKE YOUR DOG HERE.

Previous employee. DO NOT TAKE YOUR DOGS HERE. When training, they use the side of their foot to kick the dogs to correct them, this is the official instruction when training new employees. Cruel and not standard practice, using fear tactics instead of positive re-enforcement. And if your dog isn’t booked in for daily training, they will not leave the kennel their entire stay. The trainers have no official training, and no methods are up to actual training standards.

There are also tens of ex-breeding and ex-guard dogs in kennels in the back that deserve a home and let out maybe once a week if they are lucky. Some of them needing desperate medical attention but ignored (eye popping out of a rotties head but it’s “fine”, underlying health issues and joint issues from incorrect diet of only mince and from laying on the concrete for years which permanently hinders them). Multiple vets and vet nurses reporting dogs and newly bred puppies coming back injured and anxious. Ex-clients reporting the same. All negative reviews say the same thing and they blame the owners.

Described the team as being like a “family” which is never a good thing in a company, new employees easily feel out of the loop/out of place, undervalued and not listened to.

You are better off finding an independent trainer/dogsitter with training, experience and dedication.

Fantastic Service, Great Staff. Value for Money

I had an approximately 7 month old Husky that needed some obedience training and did a web search for places to go. I came across Guard Dog Training Centre. They seemed reasonably priced for the training I wanted. I rand and dealt with Reece, who was polite, courteous, understanding of exactly what I was after. So I booked Apollo in and he was picked up from home and off he went. They then delivered him home. He seemed happy when he arrived. As he was a bit slow on commands I rang and received a free video conference call and lesson and felt so much better. The staff were so great that I decided to use them again next we went away. Apollo has been there 3 times now and always seems content. I get update calls or if I call to see on how he is going during his stay. I'm so happy with the service at Guard Dog that Apollo is going to go stay there in June when we have to go away. I cannot compliment the staff there enough. I would recommend them to anyone who wanted their dog trained or for boarding.

DO NOT SEND YOUR DOG HERE

DO NOT SEND YOUR DOG HERE!! I sent my dog here for the 2 week obedience training, I'm not sure how much training they actually gave her. They said she was bait trained which she wasn't, we can see next to no difference in her behaviour. She had sores all over her chest and above the eye from the training. Looked very scared when we picked her up. DO NOT SEND YOUR DOG HERE!

Caesar, our 20 month old German Shepherd, has boarded with Guard Dog Training Centre a few times now. On his first visit he went through the obedience and training course. He now walks well on the lead and when he is around people who are a bit frail, he behaves very gently. He always comes home healthy, clean and fluffed up. At home he loves to be blown dry..... guess he learnt this when he was on 'holiday'.
