FAQs
The immediate goal of a psychotherapist is to settle and alleviate emotional pain experienced by the client. This consists of a series of conversations filled with unconditional positive regard for the client before any treatment can begin. This allows the client to feel understood and heard, enabling the therapist to see through the eyes of the client, allowing for a deeper understanding before any therapeutic intervention can be made.
What Is Starting With A Counsellor Like?
Sometimes, the hardest part is just making the initial call. You may have had a recent event that has really upset you and given you the impetus to make the call. If you feel confused or distressed, you will be taken seriously and encouraged to explore the thoughts that are upsetting you by a qualified and experienced therapist. These conversations are entered into with a spirit of sensitivity, understanding and warmth. Clients are invited to speak about anything that is troubling them.

This ultimately saves the company money and allows the person to stay working as part of the team while working through their presenting issues.
Psychotherapists do not administer medication, however, we can refer clients to a medicating specialist such as a psychiatrist or clinician, after which you can decide to continue in therapy with the psychotherapist while taking medication.
