Do I need an appointment?

An appointment is required for all Nuclear Medicine scans. Due to the specialised preparation often required for nuclear medicine examinations, same day appointments are generally not available. Please contact our Bookings Staff on 02 9044 3200 for more information.

Does the Radiologist consult with me about my results or do I go back to my referring Practitioner?

As your primary healthcare provider, your referring practitioner will discuss the results of your examination with you.

After my examination, how long will I have to wait to collect my films and results?

It depends on the type of examination you are having. When you register with our medical imaging reception staff, they will discuss the result turnaround times which apply to your specific examination(s), along with the possible options for collection or delivery to your referring doctor in some instances.

What about billing?

We are a private radiology practice and our fees entail a gap component. If you are an outpatient, you may be eligible to claim a Medicare rebate after your examination. If you are an inpatient at St Vincent's Private Hospital at the time of your examination, you may be able to claim a rebate from both Medicare and your Private Health Insurance. In most cases, full pensioners and Health Care Card holders will be bulk billed and no out-of pocket fees will be charged.

Who reports on my scans/films?

Yours scans are reviewed by a Radiologist. A Radiologist is a medical specialist trained specifically in the treatment and review of medical imaging and its related disciplines and modalities.
