FAQs

  • How much experience does the solicitor have?

Giles Finney has over 25 years of experience in litigation.

  • Do I have to go to the court?

You will need to be prepared to go to the court, however, the majority of cases do settle prior to a formal hearing.

  • If you arrange for me to see a specialist as a part of my case, who pays for the report and is the cost covered in my claim?

Generally, this cost is covered by Coastal Compensation Law Specialists.

  • What does "No Win No Fee" mean for me?

We offer this to minimise financial stress during the legal process. You are not liable to pay for legal fees unless your claim results in a successful outcome. This does not mean you would not need to pay the opposite sides costs if your claim is unsuccessful. We cover specialist medical or expert report fees required to back your compensation claim. Our fees and expenses are only payable when your claim is completed successfully and you receive compensation, however, conditions do apply.

  • Is there a time limit for claiming after my injury?

Yes, working out the exact time limit depends on the type of injury claim you are making. It is important that you seek legal advice as early as possible.

  • How much is my claim worth?

It will depend upon what type of claim it is. Assessment of claims requires all relevant information and reports to be gathered and a full consideration given to those documents and your particular circumstances.

  • Am I entitled to a lump sum claim?

Most claims have an entitlement to a lump sum payment.

  • Does the insurer pay my medical fees, travel and out of pocket expenses?

For worker's compensation and Green Slip claims, these will be paid once the insurer admits liability for the accident. For other claims, the expenses are paid once the claim is finalised.

  • What if my employer was negligent?

You may have an action against your employer if they were negligent. There are hurdles to overcome.
