BWS Icon Blackwell Short Lawyers was established in July 2006 by the founding principals seeking to provide a limited number of areas of practice for a regional law firm. Those initial areas Conveyancing, Wills & Estates and Business Law continue to this day with the firm expanding its areas of practice to include Family Law, Commercial and Estate Litigation, Succession Planning, Public Notary and Criminal Law. Blackwell Short is now one of the biggest firms in the Central West of NSW.

In July 2022, George Blackwell who founded the firm with Anthony Short stood down as a director. Anthony was joined by Alison Neville as a director at that time. In July 2024, Charles Henley joined Anthony and Alison as a director.
