When is the best time to move?

Allied Moving Services provides removal services all year round to ensure that you can move when it is convenient for you. However, the busiest times for moving companies are during the summer months when many corporate and government organisations relocate their staff. The increased demand during this time can also mean increased prices.

How long will the move take?

As a general rule, once a consultant has visited your home, taken an inventory, provided a quote and the quote has been accepted, the uplift and transportation of domestic consignments will be undertaken within two to six weeks and the uplift and transportation of international consignments will be undertaken within four to twelve weeks. Your Move Coordinator will be able to give you more detailed information depending on your requirements.

Can Allied Moving Services help us settle into our new home?

As part of Allied Moving Services standard services, during the delivery process we will position your furniture where you want it in your house and unpack all your cartons to bench top level (where the cartons were packed by Allied Moving Services). If any additional assistance is required such as stocking cupboards, making beds, connecting audio visual or IT equipment, or setting up a new kitchen, we can arrange this for you.

What range of removal services does Allied Moving Services offer?

Door-to-door services to anywhere in the world. Short-term/long-term storage. Transit insurance with a variety of extensions including storage, mechanical & electrical derangement, pairs & sets, mould & mildew cover (international only). Special crating & casing for especially valuable items. Special assistance for transportation of pets & vehicles. Moving out/settling in services such as cleaning & handyman needs.

Who will look after my goods in transit?

Every member of the International Network is required to abide by the requirements of the Allied Moving Services Global Service Charter covering areas such as the presentation of employees and vehicles, communication standards, the condition of facilities, packing materials used, import procedures, customer surveys, claims and complaints. The Global Service Charter ensures that you will receive the same level of service at origin and destination, no matter where in the world you are.

How can I ensure my children are not upset by the move?

For some children the prospect of a new school, new friends or even a new bedroom can be daunting. Talk to your children about your move & get them used to the idea well in advance. There are many good websites & many good books which touch on the best way to handle children during a move. Make sure to: Involve your children in the planning process. Help them learn about the new community where they will be living. Let them be honest with you about how they are feeling.

Are there any things I should not ship or cannot take with me to my new home?

Most carriers have restrictions relating to safety and security. While countries differ, the list below may give you an idea of what sort of things are generally discouraged for shipment. This applies to goods packed by you or by Allied Moving Services. Please see our website for a detailed list - or contact your Move Coordinator.

Do all removal companies use the same packing materials?

No, Allied Moving Services provides specially researched and designed wrapping and packing materials. Availability of certain materials varies by country but in general we have a number of specialised cartons for the common items such as books, toys and normal home contents. In addition, most locations have both flat and standing wardrobes for clothing. We also provide an 'essentials' carton which is the last carton packed and the first carton unpacked.

Can I take my pet with me?

Yes, within Australia, Allied Moving Services employs specialist partners to assist with pet transportation. Internationally, as with vehicles, the regulations vary greatly from country to country and the importation of pets or animals is carefully monitored at destination. Make sure you are aware of the rules before committing to transport your pet. Also be aware of requirements for inoculations and quarantine.

Can I take my vehicle with me?

Yes, within Australia, we use specialist vehicle relocation companies to make sure your car gets to your new location, even if you don't want to drive it there. Internationally, vehicle regulations vary from country to country but they are almost always highly detailed in terms of paperwork, regulations and procedures. Before sending any vehicle overseas, be sure to check with your Move Coordinator first. The local embassy of the destination country will also be able to assist.

Not the careful movers

Avoid at all costs. Definitely not the careful movers

I relocated an 2 bedroom home internationally to Brisbane and I cannot fault the international team. My issues started on arrival to my destination.

Issues that occurred

Double charged for handyman services which did not happen on the day of move in as committed. I eventually received a refund for the double payment after multiple follow up.

Arrived after delivery window, on which I needed to follow up with the operations team as no one had contacted me about a known issue on the day. Not enough time to deliver furniture and belongings with minimal furniture put in place although unpacking of items had been paid for.

Items of value left outside my front door.

Fixtures in my house broken due to careless stacking of boxes inside my home.

Outstanding issues not rectified and on follow-up recieved no return of phone calls or texts from operations team members

Managers took no accountability for the inaction of their teams stating that they did not know about the outstanding issues. Not knowing about the issues means they have no processes in place to track the jobs they are assigned.

Still waiting for final resolution of issues 4 months in.

Great service until they get paid, after turn to SXXT service

I booked allied moving service for my interstate moving.

When i quote my booking they were very nice and did their job very well.

But since i paid all that money, my moving consultant start to being lazy? Or ignoring my calls and email. Maybe at that time se was busy, i can guess like that. But that is impossible to ignore my email and call for 2weeks.

Allied never tell me when my goods are shipped and where those things are, when my goods gonna arrive.

NEVER ANSWER MY SINGLE QUESTION AND JUST GONNA THROW YOU DELIVERY DAY AND TIME SOMEDAY, YOU NEVER KNOW.

So Thier working system is something wrong, i can not change my delivery time because it already been set? Did you ask and discuss with me anything and set the time?

Seems like Allied does not want to pay attention with their customer who already paid.

Thanks for your great service, but never gonna use it again. Your system or ownership are really wrong at some point, hope your employee not quiet their job too often

Horrendous experience would never recommend this company

We booked allied to do our interstate move from Sydney to Gold Coast despite the over $6000 price. We did this due to their apparent professionalism, the promise of a move coordinator and the fact that they offered an ‘essentials’ delivery package to our temporary accommodation while we were waiting for the keys to our new house. We also paid an extra $500 in order to schedule a Saturday delivery to give us time over a long weekend to unpack the house before starting work.

They disappointed us in the following ways:

Leaving a full drawer full of pots and pans and ironing board in the apartment we were moving out of which we then had to arrange collection of the following day

Not treating our essentials package in any way different than other items in the move

The ‘move coordinator’ failing to respond to our emails or phone calls and not updating us about the move process

When we proactively checked what time the movers would be arriving with our things for our contractually agreed move in date we were sent a poorly worded three line email saying that they would be unable to move us in until 6 days later and inquiring as to if this was ok - leaving us without accomodation or belongings as we were due to check out of our temporary accomodation the day of the move in

Obviously this was not ok, and the co-ordinator then failed to ever communicate with us again, despite multiple phone calls and emails

Through tracking down the local franchises phone number we were eventually able to move that date forward so it was only 4 days later.

We were transferred to the move co-ordinators supervisor who asked us to wait till they had completed an internal analysis of what went wrong before talking about any compensation.

This time came and went, with multiple emails and phone calls again ignored we set a deadline for filing a ACCC complaint and civil claim. This time went past as well without any communications so both were prepared and filed.

After eventually agreeing to move us in 4 days after the initial date, the movers chipped our brand new stairs (huge chunk taken out) and dented the new walls

Eventually more than 2 weeks later, one of the local affiliates managers escalated our issue to the VP of APAC who apologized and agreed to refund the extra $500 we had paid for a planned Saturday move in day (ended up being the Wednesday) and the price of our additional accommodation.

We did eventually (6 weeks after the move) get this money refunded and the damage to the stairs and wall were repaired 2 weeks after the move in date.

The litany of failures in this process was astounding for a company which prides themselves on being able to deliver intercontinental moves. While of course mistakes will happen its more important how you deal with them. In this case, it seemed the default was to avoid and hope it went away.Overall this was a horrendously dissapointing experience. In no way would we ever recommend allied to anyone else nor would we use them again.

Great company to move with. Used Allied Pickfords to relocate from an apartment to a house. They were professional, arrived on time and were a pleasure to work with. I'd recommend them.
