At Specialeyes we pride ourselves on offering personalised service and quality product. Our experienced optometrists and dispensing staff are passionate about eyes and finding the perfect solution to suit your visual needs. We offer a range of spectacle and sunglass frames from all over the world, including exclusive lines.
John Hogan and associates was established in 1963 by John Hogan. As a sole practitioner, John worked long hours testing eyes and fitting lenses. In 1986 John's son Simon Hogan came on board and shortly after the business became Specialeyes Optical, as it is known today. In 1995 brother Phil Hogan joined the team. The brothers have worked hard to uphold the reputation for quality and professional service built by their late father.
The latest technology allows us to thoroughly assess the health of your eyes. Our three practices have access to retinal photography, non-contact tonometry, Humphrey automated perimetry and OCT imaging. Specialeyes was the first to adopt OCT technology in WA!
Your optometrist will assess your vision and examine the health of your eyes. We offer diabetic screenings, specialist contact lens fittings, children's vision therapy, aviation assessments and a range of other specialist services! Please speak to our friendly reception staff for more information.

Do I need to schedule an appointment?
A comprehensive eye exam is recommended every two years unless your optometrist or health practitioner has advised more frequent examinations. Please phone to schedule an appointment as our optometrists are usually booked ahead of time.
How much does a standard eye examination cost?
Eye examinations are often bulk-billed to Medicare so be sure to bring a current Medicare card. There may be private fees for retinal imaging and contact lens consultations. Please bring your private health insurance card as there may be a rebate for any glasses or contact lenses ordered.
How long will the eye examination take?
Please allow thirty minutes for an eye test, and extra time for choosing glasses.
Can I claim my private health insurance rebate?
Yes, we can swipe your private health insurance card on our HICAPS so you only pay the balance for your glasses or contact lenses. Most private health insurers will not cover any private consultation fees incurred.
