What is Pilates?
Pilates refers to a wide ranging group of exercises which aim to improve the activation of the trunk muscles. These muscles help to support the spine in all our day to day activities and are particularly useful for people recovering from acute or chronic low back injuries and pain. Pilates traditionally makes use of equipment (such as the Reformer) which use springs for resistance. See us for an individual exercise programme tailored to your specific needs.
What is Sciatica?
Sciatica is a term used to describe leg pain that originates from the low back (the Lumbar Spine). Specifically, it refers to symptoms caused by irritation of the Sciatic Nerve and can be felt as leg pain, pins and needles and/or muscle weakness. The joints of the lumbar spine (the Facet Joints) can also radiate pain into the legs. Assessment is needed to determine the cause of the symptoms before appropriate measures can be taken along the path to recovery. Call us today to get started.
