By referral from your usual veterinarian.
Veterinary Ophthalmic Referrals is a dedicated animal eye clinic, seeing animals with eye problems referred from general veterinary practice. Referral cases are seen in Adelaide from throughout South Australia, Northern Territory, Western Victoria and Western New South Wales. There is also a visiting service to North Queensland.
Veterinary medicine has progressed to the point of having specialist fields similar to those in human medicine. A veterinary ophthalmologist is a veterinary eye specialist, in other words a veterinarian who has specialised in the diagnosis and treatment of conditions involving the eyes of animals.
To register as a veterinary specialist in a particular field, rigorous and stringent criteria have to be met in terms of post-graduate training and passing of relevant examinations for specialist qualifications.
At Veterinary Ophthalmic Referrals we aim to ensure clients return to their referring or usual veterinarian happy that everything within reason has been done to rectify their pet's eye problem.
