Ashley and Belynda Stroyan took over the locally owned and operated business after Terry passed away in 2004. With his family’s blessing, they decided to keep the business name, Terry Gardiner’s Meats & Smallgoods, out of respect for Terry. Ashley completed his apprenticeship with Terry and has worked at the butcher shop in Port Augusta for 22 years, where you’ll also find a full team of fully qualified butchers, and customer service staff. For your convenience, our qualified butchers offer free same day local delivery throughout Port Augusta and Stirling North. We cater for all types of wholesale and retail orders and supply fresh meat to the doors of your local hotels and restaurants. If you would prefer to browse our butcher shop and collect a selection of meat yourself, we have ample parking, with room for large vehicles and caravans. No order or delivery is too big or too small for Terry Gardiner’s Meats & Smallgoods, and we even offer same-day local delivery services for your convenience (for orders placed before 3pm). Terry Gardiner’s Meats & Smallgoods specialises in fresh meats - ideal for dinner, barbeques and parties. We guarantee the quality of our produce and ensure each carcass is graded, so you only ever receive the highest standard of meat from our butcher in Port Augusta. We’re also happy to sell our meats to outside trades in and around the local area for daily use and special events and occasions, including catering companies, hotels, and restaurants. What's the best way to store products at home?

Meat should be immediately refrigerated or frozen after it's purchased. If you plan to divide it up and freeze portions, try to do so as soon as you can. If you store meat in freezer bags, try to remove as much air from the bag as possible. But of course, we think it's better for you to come into our butcher shop at Port Augusta to buy your meat fresh the day you plan to cook it.


What should I look for when buying meat?

Our beef is firm and slightly moist with fresh red colour and most importantly, it's well marbled with fat. The quality lamb you'll find is pinkish red and firm with little marbling and little fat. We're the sole supplier of Premium Award Winning Local Spear Creek Saltbush Dorper Lamb. Our cuts of pork have more lean meat than fat and bone. A good cut of pork will be greyish pink and the flesh feels relatively firm.


How can I place an order?

The best way to purchase our meat is to come into our store at Port Augusta. You can also call, fax or email us with your order and we will have it ready for you as you need it. We also do "bush orders" to Roxby Downs and surrounding areas. Orders to Roxby Downs need to be placed by Wednesday morning and are delivered by refrigerated truck to your door on Friday mornings to their door between 10am and 12pm (for a small fee).
