Types Of Skin Cancer Basal Cell CarcinomaAbout two thirds of all skin cancers are basal cell carcinomas (also called basal cell cancers). Basal cell cancers usually develop on areas exposed to the sun, especially the head and neck.

Ulcerated Basal Cell CarcinomaOver time, the top layer skin may begin to break down. This is called ulceration. Ulceration causes the centre of the lesion to collapse. Squamous Cell CarcinomaAbout one third of all skin cancers are squamous cell. Squamous cell skin cancers tend to grow slowly and can almost always be cured if found early. MelanomaMelanoma is much less common than basal cell and squamous cell skin cancers and makes up about 1% of skin cancers but is by far the most dangerous.
