How much does orthodontic treatment cost?
The cost of braces varies depending on the type of malocclusion and depending on the type of appliances. However there is a broad range of $6,000 to $13,000. or more. The lower end is for stainless steel labial braces and the upper end is for lingual metal braces. A consultation is required for a formal estimate.
Is orthodontic treatment painful?
The placement of orthodontic appliances is normally not painful, however, there is a small amount of tenderness in the first two to three days after the braces are fitted which is controlled by mild pain medication such as Paracetamol or Nurofen.
Can I have orthodontic treatment if I am in my 20's, 30's, 40's, and 50's?
Yes. Orthodontic treatment can be used to align teeth of adults of any age. However because adults do not have any future growth, the amount of orthodontic correction is limited. Certain corrections may require adjunctive Periodontal, Endodontic, Prosthodontic and Orthognathic treatment.
