FAQs
Hi, I am Dr Sia Bandarian, you can call me Dr Sia. I am a registered Clinical Psychologist and a Lecturer in the School of Applied Psychology at Griffith University. I provide treatment for adults, couples, and group therapy face to face and via telehealth (Zoom). I provide dynamic treatment for anxiety, trauma, depression, OCD, attachment problems, relationship problems, personality problems, and emotion regulation difficulties.
For ISTDP Therapy ,I primarily provide a therapy called Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy (ISTDP). That is a big word but let me explain more about it here. If you would rather watch a video on the topic, check out the YouTube video below, where I explain what the topic is exactly. Getting safe, relinquishing our toxic defence mechanisms, regulating our anxiety, and accessing our genuine feelings is key to a good life and ISTDP is a modern therapy that attempts to achieve just that.
Group Therapy is a collaborative approach to healing and personal development. At Attach Psychology, individuals who are carefully selected, participate in small groups to benefit from the clinical experience of our psychologist, Dr Sia. Group Therapy would suit you if one-on-one sessions sound too intense. Participating in this way means you learn, not just from the therapist, but also from the experiences of other people in the group. In response to this need, Dr Sia has put together a collection of Group Therapy modalities for adults.

Yes, Group Therapy sessions are confidential. The confidentiality of all group members is an expectation for all who participate.
Group sizes can vary, but 6 to 10 members is typical. The number of members is decided to ensure a supportive and intimate environment.

Couples and Marriage Therapy is also known as couples therapy or marriage counselling. This is psychotherapy focused on helping couples address conflicts, enhance communication, and strengthen their emotional bonds.
Couples Therapy can be beneficial when you and your partner are experiencing communication problems, frequent conflicts, emotional distance, trust issues, or a decline in intimacy. Pre-marital counselling can also be helpful in building a strong foundation for marriage.
During a therapy session, you and your partner would work with a qualified therapist who would facilitate discussion, guide you through exercises, and provide insights to help you better understand and address your relationship challenges. At Attached Psychology, your therapist would be Dr Sia.
Couples Therapy will vary in duration depending on the issues you're facing and your specific goals. Short-term therapy will benefit some couples, while others may need longer-term counselling. Dr Sia will discuss with you the recommended duration.
Yes, Couples Therapy is highly effective. Research shows that, for many couples, this therapy leads to improved communication, conflict resolution, and relationship satisfaction. However, success depends on the commitment of both partners to the process.
No. You don't need to be married. Couples Therapy is all about enhancing the quality of your connection in your relationship, whether you're dating, engaged, or cohabiting.
