Are health private fund rebates available?

All clients who are members of private health funds and are eligible to claim remedial massage therapy & chiropractic benefits can do so through our HICAPS facility or the relevant fund.

What qualifications are required by chiropractors?

Becoming a chiropractor requires a 5-year full-time university education. Their education emphasises neurology, diagnostic imaging, physiology, spinal adjusting techniques and clinical subjects. Chiropractors are educated in Australia at universities in Melbourne, Sydney, Perth and in Brisbane/Mackay. There is also a chiropractic course at the New Zealand College of Chiropractic and in other countries including the UK, Malaysia and America.

Are the chiropractors governed by a registered/regulated body?

Chiropractors are required, by law, to maintain ongoing professional development and education every year to stay in practice. If a chiropractor does not appear on this register, they should not practice. The register can be found at www.ahpra.gov.au/Registration/Registers-of-Practitioners.aspx. Chiropractors are primary healthcare practitioners and are trained to recognise conditions which may require referral to medical practitioners or other allied health.

Who can see a chiropractor?

Chiropractors are trained to treat people of all ages from babies to the very old. Some chiropractors choose to take a special interest in a particular population such as infants or the elderly or athletes. A thorough history is taken and an appropriate physical examination performed before any treatment is recommended or given to any new patient. Please see our website for more information about the interest areas of our chiropractors at www.intouchchiro.com.au or call us on 07 4162 8388.

Do you give exercises?

Chiropractors at In Touch Chiropractic combine your spinal adjustments with home exercises when appropriate. This aids the therapeutic effects of your treatment. The changes in the activation of the motor neurons of the spinal cord may improve the stabilisation of motion segments in the spine as you move and live your life. Chiropractic also places an emphasis on nutrition, exercise and healthy lifestyle modifications.

Why do I see a chiropractor?

Headaches, back pain and stiff necks are common reasons for seeing a chiropractor; however, more and more people are requiring preventative care as they find that they need to maintain better health, and have less downtime from work and play.

What payment options do you have?

Payment options include cash, & most credit/debit cards through our EFTPOS facility. We have HICAPS facility for immediate claims with many private health funds and Medicare (please note Medicare requires an appropriate written referral from your GP). We also accept DVA cases with a written referral from your GP. We do not run accounts, therefore, payment is expected at the time of service.

How much does it cost?

Without the information provided by a preliminary examination, this is very difficult to answer. Please contact our reception for more specific information on the cost of an initial examination. Our initial consultation includes case history and a full examination with chiropractic, orthopaedic and neural examinations and usually takes 60 minutes.
