Cost?

Please contact us on 8333 0940 or [email protected] for details. At Rose Park Psychology we aim to provide a high level of service delivered by well qualified and experienced psychologists. This is reflected in our fee. However, the Medicare rebate for our specialised clinical psychologists is substantially higher than for most psychologists.

Do I have to be referred by a doctor?

You will need to see your doctor for a mental health plan before you can claim the Medicare refund. A referral is required to claim on Workcover and motor vehicle accident insurance. You do not need a referral to use your private health cover or if you personally pay the fee.

How many sessions will I need?

Each individual and situation is different. Some people achieve a different perspective in one session while most need more. Generally,, approximately six sessions are required. For some mental health problems more sessions may be needed.

How long is a session & when can I get an appointment?

Each session is 50 minutes in duration and an appointment can usually be booked within two weeks.

What can I expect from seeing a psychologist?

You can expect to discuss your feelings, behaviour, relationships, goals or problems. We aim to understand your situation, as you see it. We offer new strategies for approaching, and a different perspective on your problem. If you are suffering from anxiety or depression we provide cognitive behaviour therapy, mindfulness, ACT and other evidence-based treatment programs. A psychologist does not prescribe medication.

Can I claim the cost on Medicare or private health cover?

You can claim a Medicare refund, but there is a gap fee. To claim the Medicare refund, you have to be assessed and referred by a GP who if appropriate will write a mental health care plan. You can claim under private health cover extras. Please check with your provider about your cover. The cost is totally covered by the WorkCover insurer or Allianz if a work injury or motor vehicle accident is the cause of the problem.
