FAQs

  • What should I expect?

At Physio-Wise we only use sterile disposable needles so that there is no chance of cross-contamination. The time the needles are left may vary between 1 min & 20 mins. The needles may be gently manipulated to increase the effect. Patients often notice an improvement within hours to a few days; however, several sessions are sometimes needed to notice an improvement. After the treatment, you may notice fatigue & deep relaxation, you may also notice temporary aggravation of symptom being treated.

  • What is causing my pain?

To accurately determine the cause of the problem, your physiotherapist will need to get a full history of your problem, and perform specific tests of the area before a diagnosis and plan for treatment can occur. At Physio-Wise, your physio will use a range of treatment techniques to speed up your recovery. This may include, massage, joint mobilisation, ultrasound, interferential therapy, InterX, or dry needling. Your physiotherapist will discuss your treatment options with you.

  • Would I be able to have dry needling?

Diabetes, anticoagulant treatment, pregnancy, an artificial heart valve or a pacemaker, epilepsy, any allergy against metal, a bleeding disorder. If you have any of the above conditions, you may not be suitable for dry needling techniques. Your physiotherapist will assess your individual situation to determine whether or not it is safe for you to have dry needling.
