Part of the Palace cinema group means that they show a selection of local and international films. Youll find they have more of a range and show less main stream films compared to the other cinemas. The cinema is also serves beer and wine and Friday nights you can also get cocktails and tapas.

The Palace Cinemas in the Como building are great. In a central South Yarra location and only a short walk from South Yarra train station. They host many film festivals during the year, including the French Film Festival and also the German and Italian ones. Theres a lounge area near the entrance where you can buy food and also purchase alcohol that you can take into the cinema.

Went here a month ago (April 2013). The cinema is ok but struggled to handle the crowds for the last night of the French film festival and didnt keep the bar open late enough for the 3 and half hour "Les Enfants Du Paradis" - which was really annoying. The cinema airconditioning was absolutely frigid and some old people had to leave because it was simply too cold inside. You can park in the basement for $5 (special deal for cinema patrons). They have made an attempt to make the cinema stylish but I prefer the Palace Cinemas in Brighton.
