I just want advice about my child's feet?
Children grow & change so fast. It is difficult to know what is normal, what children will outgrow & what needs to be treated. At Hinkler Podiatry, we will thoroughly assess your child, identify what are normal development milestones or discuss treatment options if required & give you peace of mind.
My doctor just told me I have diabetes & need to see a podiatrist. Why?
Diabetes will affect 1 in 4 Australian adults. Diabetes can affect the skin, making it more susceptible to developing pressure lesions, reduce the feeling in the feet & affect the circulation in the legs. With regular feet checks, podiatrists can identify any of these changes early & help prevent ulcers & infections. Ask your Doctor if you are eligible for an enhanced primary care plan whereby your visit can be fully bulked billed at Hinkler Podiatry.
Is there anything I can do about fungal nails?
Fungal nail infections can be frustrating & difficult to treat. If identified early, there are many more options. Hinkler Podiatry offer PACT Therapy, a unique, safe & non-invasive therapy utilising powerful light energy to destroy the fungal growth, allowing the nail to grow normally. This is a good treatment alternative to daily or weekly paint on therapies which can take up to 6-12 months to be effective.
What can I do about heel spurs?
Heel Spurs or Plantar Fasciitis is a painful condition in which a long ligament that attaches under the heel becomes inflamed & swollen. It's often characterized by pain first thing in the morning & after rest. If left untreated, Plantar Fasciitis can last for 12-18 months. Treatment involves identifying the cause of the problem (Biomechanics, Flat Feet and Footwear) & actively reducing the inflammation.
Do I need a referral?
No referral is needed to see a podiatrist as a private patient. If you have a DVA gold card, you will need a letter from your doctor or a D904 form.
What does a podiatrist do?
Podiatrists are allied health professionals who care for feet. Podiatrists can manage problems from flat feet, heel pain, neuromas, ingrown toenails, shin splints, corns, warts & more. Podiatrists also help in the management of diabetes, poor circulation & fall prevention.
What is RWT?
Radial Wave Therapy (RWT) is a revolutionary treatment that uses Kinetic & Acoustic energy to promote healing & break down chronic inflammation. It is a powerful method to treat chronic heel pain, Achilles tendinitis, shin splints, trigger points & many other conditions. Hinkler Podiatry is the only place in the Wide Bay to offer this treatment.
