What does a water bore?
A water bore is a hole drilled down to the depth of a groundwater aquifer to obtain a water supply. The water is flow tested to measure the yield. Any unstable strata are cased to avoid the hole from collapsing. After the drilling process is completed a bore pump is then required to pump the bore water to the surface.
What do the benefits of a water bore?
A water bore is a valuable asset as it provides your own sustainable water supply to maintain your gardens and lawns in times of drought and to replenish empty dams in the dry season. You can save money by eliminating the use of household tank water or town water on your gardens. An independent water supply can also add value to your property.
Where does bore water come from?
Bore water comes from groundwater below the earth’s surface. The groundwater comes from precipitation, which seeps down through saturated ground and fills the spaces and cracks between soil, fractured rock formations and alluvium strata (i.e., sand and gravel). These spaces are called aquifers.
How much does a water bore cost?
Every bore is different, so an exact cost cannot be provided in advance. Ultradrilling Pty Ltd can provide an estimated provisional quote for budget purposes, based on research and our knowledge of bores in your area. Contact us for a free site inspection to discuss your groundwater requirements.
Is bore water suitable for drinking?
Not all bore water is suitable for drinking. All water intended for human consumption must be tested by an accredited laboratory for a comprehensive analysis of all parameters to determine its compliance with the Australian Standards for Drinking Water. The laboratory should provide certification that the bore water is safe for human use and consumption.
Is a Permit or Licence required?
Yes, it is a legal requirement to obtain a bore permit/licence from WaterNSW before drilling can commence. N.S.W. Application requirements and procedures and to lodge an application online visit WaterNSW (https://www.waternsw.com.au/customer-services/water-licensing/applications-and-fees).
