      We are involved with the collection and recycling of scrap steel, copper, brass, aluminium, lead and stainless steel.

      Darling Downs Metals was founded in 1992 by Ken Frasle, father of current Managing Director Paul Frasle. Ken established the company for scrap collection and primary processing. Paul and his brother Neil, who had been involved in the scrap metal industry, joined Darling Downs Metals upon its formation. The company has grown significantly since then.

      The metal is collected, sorted and undergoes primary treatment (cutting to marketable size, baling, stripping plastic from copper etc.) at the Toowoomba yard with the majority of the material sold to the export market.       The bulk of our business revolves around buying scrap metals from a range of other businesses - dumps/waste transfer stations, manufacturers (off cuts), vehicle wreckers, mines, power stations, agricultural companies and more. Most metals waste is sold by weight according to its market price.

      Once material is on-site, a primary sort is done into basic waste streams. Metals are separated out by type - steel, copper, aluminium, etc. Some processing of materials is done on-site; mainly cutting steel down to manageable lengths.
