      Izzards Optometrists has provided optometry services on the Peninsula for over 50 years, and our Optometrists have more than 80 years of combined experience. Our friendly team cares about your eye health and carefully examines your eyes to find a tailored solution to suit your needs and budget.       Our passion for quality also extends to your eyewear where we provide an extensive range of spectacle frames and lenses at reasonable prices along with a dedicated service to ensure that you receive expert attention. To ensure you get the best possible outcome, we offer a comprehensive range of services to accurately assess and treat your eyes to maintain optimum eye health. What’s more, our exceptional optometry services are available for all eligible Veteran Affairs cardholders. We provide emergency care and treatment for most eye conditions.

      Why isn't everything covered by Medicare?

      Changes in technology and scope of practice occur faster than Medicare can cover. In an environment where the Federal Government are trying to decrease spending new testing and techniques don't always get covered adequately. We would rather impose a small fee and perform all necessary tests and be confident nothing has been missed rather than not do them and charge less.


      Are your glasses expensive?

      There is a common misconception that private optometry practices are very expensive for glasses. However, the truth is we are no more expensive than corporate businesses that currently advertise on TV and our quality is far superior. We have a wide range of price points to suit all budgets from low to high depending on your preference and we can tailor packages or payment plans if needed.


      You have different levels of examination. What are the extra tests and why do I need them?

      We currently offer Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT), Pachymetry and Digital retinal Imaging. These tests are new technology that allows us to more efficiently diagnose and treat eye conditions such as Glaucoma, Macular Degeneration and Diabetic eye disease. They are not absolutely essential but better assess whether there are any underlying eye problems now and in the future. We recommend they be done at least every 2 years.
