FAQs

  • Who looks after me when my doctor goes on leave?

As a patient you are always free to arrange an appointment to see any doctor. The practice operates a roster where each doctor has a colleague who takes responsibility for reviewing any incoming test results and correspondence received during their absence. This covering doctor will arrange any follow up that is required to ensure your ongoing medical care is maintained. The practice also has a daily duty doctor roster. The duty doctor will respond to any queries from patients.

  • What cost will I be charged to attend a specialist appointment?

Your doctor will refer you to a specialist when they feel it is medically necessary. The majority of specialists will charge a private fee for their service & you will be expected to pay & claim your rebate from Medicare. We would encourage you to enquiry about the consultation fees when you call to arrange the appointment. If the fees are too much your doctor may be able to refer you to another specialist, or to a hospital clinic.

  • What to do when travelling?

We have had requests from travel insurance companies to release information about you as medical care has been needed whilst on holidays. To protect your privacy we do not release medical information without your verbal or written consent. If you know you are travelling please let us know what you would like us to do if such a request is received in your absence.
