Yes. All of the Life/TPD policies quoted on our website can be owned and paid for by a SMSF for one of their members. Some insurers offer discounts where related persons apply with them.
For Life, TPD and Trauma policies the answer is generally no. However income protection premiums are generally tax deductible in the year they are paid. This means that if your marginal tax rate is 30% you will effectively receive a tax refund of 30% of your premium when you complete your tax return.
Life insurance companies have in recent years relaxed their medical requirements. If you are under 45 you can generally apply for up to $2.5 million of life insurance cover or income protection up to $6500 a month without any medicals. Having said this, if you disclose a medical condition in your application the insurer may still request a report from your doctor, medical exam or blood test in order to obtain more information about this.
