New vehicle purchase

I purchased a new GM SV from McCrae motors the sales people We dealt with (Alesha) kept us in the loop every step of the way showed me the vehicle once it arrived and great run through on handover would not hesitate purchasing from McCrae motors in the future

BUYER BEWARE!!

My 2017 X-TRAIL (4 years old) blew a turbo with less than 90,000km on it. I came to McRae Nissan to submit a good-will claim as the warranty had expired in order to get it fixed.



My local mechanic had already removed the turbo as part of diagnosing the problem and the car was at their workshop in an undrivable state.



Nissan Australia advised me over the phone to get my mechanic to write a report on the issue and take it in to McCrae Nissan Wodonga for them to submit the claim.



Upon doing so, their service manager demanded that I bring the vehicle in on a tow truck for them to verify it is indeed the car I say it is. Otherwise they would not submit the claim, or rather they 'couldn't'. Naively I did as they asked.



Once it got to McRae Nissan and they finished submitting the claim, within less than 24 hours it was denied as it was a privately purchased vehicle and they have no obligation to fix it outside of warranty.



This was known to McRae Nissan already, although they completely deny that was the case. Instead telling me that they couldn't predict the outcome and that they didn't know that was Nissan's policy.



Yet they had me tow the vehicle to them and again back from them at my expense. They didn't carry out any diagnostic work themselves as the turbo was already removed and provided to them in a box. But yet the service managers attitude was that I was lucky that they didn't invoice me for the privilege of submitting a form to Nissan head office.



These guys are my only local point of contact to the manufacturer, I had no other way to go about submitting the claim.



Abysmal service from this incompetent service manager David. I was told point blank by him that it was my fault for getting the car diagnosed outside of a Nissan dealership and that if I had driven it to them in the first place I wouldn't be in this situation. He then went on to state that I was a troublesome customer and that he hasn't even made any money out of me.



So much for good will from Nissan. It's ended up costing me $300 in towing fees for the privilege of having them submit a form on my behalf.



I asked if they would meet me half way since I had already paid for the towing fee to get the car to them, if they could simply arrange for it to be sent back to the mechanic. But no, they would rather make out as though it's my problem and that they are just following procedure.



So, let it be known that this is the kind of service you'll receive at McRae Nissan if like me your next to new vehicle has a major fault out of warranty.



If you do happen to need to deal with their service department, don't be led astray by David, confirm the procedure with Nissan directly first. I wish I had, it would have saved me both time and money.



I know dealers are known for being bad but these guys are an absolute disgrace.
