Anthony Wilson, our principle podiatrist has over 22 years of experience. Qualifying at Durham University in the UK, he then worked in London for the National Health Service where he specialised in biomechanics, nail surgery and diabetic wound care. In 2007 Anthony moved to Bulli with his family and started up Podiatry Illawarra.

What is HICAPS?
HICAPS is a way to electronically claim your private health insurance rebate at the time of your consultation.
Do you provide home visits?
Home visits are available to patients.
I think I need an x-ray or ultrasound. Do I need to see my GP?
No, if your podiatrist believes further investigations are required for a diagnosis or to assess the integrity or damage of a structure they may order an x-ray or ultrasound. Podiatrists at Western Sydney Podiatry will refer you to one of our preferred providers who bulk bill Medicare for our patients. In cases where we believe an MRI or bone scan are necessary, we will liaise with your GP or specialist.
Do I need a referral to visit Podiatry Illawarra?
No. You only need a referral to see a Podiatrist if you are with the Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA), Workers Compensation or are on the Enhance Primary Care Plan (Medicare).
Does Podiatry Illawarra bulk bill?
Yes, for patients with a valid Enhanced Primary Care Plan (EPC) and Medicare card, both of which must be presented prior to or on the day of your appointment before treatment commences.
Does private health care insurance cover podiatry?
Yes, most private health insurers provide podiatry cover under their ancillary tables. It is important however to check your cover prior to your appointment as it will affect how much of a rebate you receive.
Does Podiatry Illawarra use HICAPS?
Yes. Simply present your private health insurance card at your time of consultation and we will claim your rebate back at the time of your consultation.
