I am suffering of neuropathy on my legs and therefore I was looking for buying a small foldable mobility scooter. On 24th of April, 2019, I found on Gumtree and add of a “new” scooter placed by this company.

I was interested and I rang the seller. He said the scooter is brand new and the last one he has. He will receive more only latter, in June-July. I ask how much would cost shipped to Sydney. I agreed with the given total price and I committed myself to buy it, giving to seller all my details.

To my surprise he replied a few minutes later by email, saying that the scooter was sold.

Following day, the scooter was still on sale on Gumtree. I rang the seller again and I offered him $100 above the asking price if he sales it to me.

After 10 days I received the scooter which was “sold” before buying it by myself.

However, did not appeare to be new. It had a cracked fender, driving wheel showed significant wear, odometer showed it had already travelled 7 km, the battery was marked with some sticky staff and has a deep scratch on aluminium body.

Before I received the scooter, I asked the seller to give me the overall dimension of the folded scooter, which I measured and proved to be wrong, and the climbing capability, which I tested and again proved to be wrong.

Finally, I got another surprise. A few days after buying the scooter I could see again on Gumtree the same add, for the same scooter, by the same seller, even that mine was supposed to be the “last “one.

So, I have in my garage a “new” scooter “sold” before I bought it and a few days later was “for sale” again. Please help me to understand this seller.
