A beginner’s guide to exotic flowers
Index
Not everyone is a shrinking violet, so why would you buy flowers for someone that don’t match their personality?
Everyone loves a bunch of flowers, whether it’s a gift for yourself, or for a friend. But while everybody loves roses and gerberas, it’s great to mess things up a little with something a little more exotic. Choosing something with a lot more colour and drama can make for an amazing floral display, whether it’s for a workplace or a centrepiece at home.
There are lots of florists that specialise in exotic or unusual flowers to brighten any scenario. Consider something tall and striking like the Bird of Paradise or vibrant red anthuriums. Look out for ginger plant blooms, orchids or striking Australian natives such as banksias, kangaroo paw and proteas – for an intriguing and colourful floral arrangement.
Tropical flowers come in a brilliant array of colours. Look out for hibiscus, calathea, lotus or amaryllus for a striking focus. Don’t forget the foliage either – bold palm leaves can make a real designer statement.
