Gardens of the rich and famous
Index
Missing socks, putting the USB in the wrong way on your first two tries, being surprised that celebs can be just like the rest of us – some things will simply never change.
Because yes, even our homegrown rich and famous enjoy the occasional homegrown garden. Sure, they might be able to afford a few more LED-lit fountains and sunken BBQ pits, but some of our most-loved celebrities have their favourite garden species as well.
Miranda Kerr
In a 2015 interview with Vogue, Miranda Kerr offered fans an insight into her Malibu home. Even though she would usually be based in New York for work, this true blue Aussie gal loves being by the ocean, which is just beyond her backyard. She’s also a fan of growing strawberries, saying that son Flynn loves to take a look each morning to see if any are ripe yet. Inside the house, she decorates with fan leaves from the garden, roses, and daisies.
Cate Blanchett
Cate has been famously quoted as saying “I think I just want to garden – or kill some plants, in my case”, showing that she’s not only like us in that she likes a bit of time in the backyard, but also that she might not be much of a pro either. The quote comes from an old interview with the Huffington Post when she spoke about slowing down after her stellar film career. She also reportedly has a veggie patch at home, with quite an impressive crop of cherry tomatoes. Let’s hope she has a chance to eat them before she kills them.
Liam Hemsworth
If you don’t have a favourite Hemsworth brother, are you even Australian? Here’s one argument for being #TeamLiam – he’s into his gardening. In an interview with Cosmopolitan, the dark-haired Hemsworth admitted to being “pretty domestic”, saying that he had recently planted a veggie patch with parsley, tomato, spinach, and coriander. A good thing too, considering he has recently become a vegan, so he has a good incentive to produce bumper crops year-round.
You too can be just like a few of our favourite Aussie celebs with your own garden at home. And if your inner celeb is something of a Cate Blanchett that worries about decimating the tomato patch, reach out to a professional gardener in your area for a quote and an expert green thumb (or two!).
