What’s so good about organic food?

Organic or not?
While some still associate organic food with hippies and hipsters with more beard than brains, there is good reason for its rise in popularity.
As the demand for food increases suppliers and farms are scrambling to keep up. To do this they often use chemicals, hormones and pesticides to protect and boost the yield of crops and livestock.
People are now looking for healthier food produced using more natural farming methods. Think of all the great health cafes for hipsters this has led to, if that’s your thing!
Supermarkets and grocery stores know what people want and now stock organic food.
So, what’s so good about organic food?
- If you want a few less chemicals in you, then organically-grown fruit and vegetables and grain crops aren’t sprayed with as many pesticides and fertilisers, and don’t contain chemical preservatives and additives.
- Organically-produced meat and dairy produce contains no added hormones or antibiotics.
- Animal lovers will love to hear that livestock is treated much better.
- Organic farming is also sustainable and environmentally friendly.
At the end of the day organic may burn a bigger hole in your pocket, but the end result is better for you and the environment.
Now, is that is worth putting up with the beard brigade?
