How much does a tattoo hurt?
Index
Pain, as with so many other things, is subject to the beholder. Before getting a tattoo you should be aware that there will be some pain involved, its level will vary though.

Personal
Everyone handles pain differently. Some people find it easy to block out pain while others feel every little bit of it. Your personal pain threshold will dictate how painful your tattoo experience will be.
Where?
The location of your tattoo will contribute to the pain factor. Some areas are more painful than others, so if you don’t like needles and don’t respond well to pain, do your homework. As a general rule, areas that have more flesh hurt less and areas that don’t normally get touched also hurt more. This means that your inner upper arm will hurt more than your outer arm and the top of your foot will hurt more than your chest.
The bigger your tattoo is, the longer it will take, and the more pain you will have to put up with. Just remember that pain is the eye of the beholder, and that at the end you will have a lasting momento for the pain.
