SHOCKING RACIAL PROFILING AT NORTH AVALON CELLAR 🚫



On Saturday, the 31st at 10:44 AM, I had one of the most humiliating experiences of my life at this store.



While on holiday in the area, we walked into North Avalon Cellar to purchase alcohol and presented valid ID without hesitation. The man working that morning (older male) immediately began interrogating us with unnecessary, suspicious questions — and when we returned later to buy more liquor, he assumed we were buying for underage girls, completely unfounded and offensive.



Instead of treating us like paying, law-abiding customers, he racially profiled us and refused to sell us liquor — even though we had done absolutely nothing wrong. Our girlfriends later went in and were also racially profiled, with him telling them never to come back after selling to them. This was not only discriminatory but deeply dehumanizing.



As people of colour, we’ve sadly experienced racism before — but never expected it in such an open and hateful way from someone in a professional setting. We were simply enjoying a holiday and did not deserve this treatment.



To the owner: If this is the type of attitude you condone in your business, you should be ashamed. There is no place for racism or racial profiling in 2025 — not in Avalon, not anywhere.



We will not return. And we encourage others — especially people of colour — to be cautious if entering this store.
