Having had a blowout Dec 30, I went to a reputable dealer to fix 1 tyre. I ended up buying 4 new tyres since the tyres on my car were illegal end 2023. Unbeknownst to me, Blackmans Bay tyres first of all sold me 2yr old tyres that were in fact date stamped 2021 and then had the audacity to put tyres that were underweighted by 60kilos per tyre! I was a ticking time bomb. This dealership compromised my safety and of others travelling with me and endangering anyone else on the road beside me. I went into their shop this morning. I respectfully waited until no other customers were in there. I explained what he did and denied they were underweight and that I could drive with them, are you serious? I even mentioned the placard that is in the car. I should have had 96 on each tyre instead they were 93’s. I showed him photos and gently explained how unsatisfied I was, I asked for compensation since I had to pay $1200 for a brand new set somewhere else. I spent $400 on the old tyres. With tyre rotations I should have had another couple of years in them. He asked me who told me all this I told him that business is not in question. I showed him photos of the damage on all 4 old tyres that came off. Shocking photos yet still denied any wrong doing. He told me to get someone else’s opinion, I said there were 3 guys that said the same thing. The reputable dealer also said that he has been in the business for 26years and this was the worst case ever, not even understanding how these tyres were already 2yrs old and just wanted to get rid of them. Yes a contributing factor was rotating them, however there was ABSOLUTELY NO COME BACK from selling a customer underweighted ILLEGAL tyres. Shame on you for jeopardising the safety of the community. I did the right thing by telling him and he DID NOT CARE. He didn’t even offer me $200, he just thought he was right DESPITE ALL OF THE EVIDENCE. You would trust this guy with children in your car? Still shaking our heads at his negligence.
