Do not go there for you'r car safety

RUN RUN RUN A WAY !!! For you own good if you have a serious job to get done go a way!

They where supposed to change our crank angle sensor. They finally break our air flow sensor our AC as well and also the cam sensor .... lost off time and money !

Also charged 3h so 450$ only to diagnose the car even if we have tolled them what was the problem from the start!

So we finally paid 2000$ for them to ruin our car !!!!

So specially if you are a Backpacker go a way before they rip you off !! a lot off good mechanics in Broome. All the locals know about this shop !!! so be careful mates!

Don't waste your time or money! Go somewhere else

Took our car in after another mechanic in town failed to fix our transmission after months. Was hoping for it to be fixed by Minshull. They were so unorganized, had no idea what I was talking about every time I called them. Couldn't find the parts. I had to contact them every time and they offered no solutions. We had a move planned which they new about and in the end we had to move without our car. We lost it to them and they never contacted us about it, we lost the value of the car and it's probably been parted out by now. I do not recommend this mechanic.

Poor workmanship and products

After a nightmarish 18mths of continual mechanical and product failures, I would never recommend either Minshull Mechanical Repairs nor their Perth based supplier - SuperSpares as a mechanical repair option.

I laugh to myself as I read their business synopsis which talks about "high quality workmanship and good customer care" - something I never experienced.

My story is a long one but in short, it goes like this:

* Due to dirty fuel my engine failed 100 kms out of Broome. As an RAC member my Prado 4 cyl turbo car was taken to Minshull Mechanical Repairs.

* A reconditioned engine was sent from Perth (from SuperSpares) to Broome.

* Picked up car approx 7 days later and a bill for over $10k. I was told SuperSpares in Perth would provide any necessary warranty work.

* Before I got out of the workshop my nightmare began: auto windows were not working. Went and saw Warren the owner of the business and got the issue fixed.

* Next day engine failed approx 500kms south of Broome as I was heading to Perth. Failure due to a communication error between the engine ECU and it's Turbo.

* Two days late, low oil level light came on. Had to add oil.

* Upon reaching Perth, my nightmare continued over the coming months with:

1) Leaking engine core plugs

2) several engine oil leaks

3) Continual soot being blown out of the exhaust pipe - had to keep a bucket under the exhaust to capture the soot otherwise I was cleaning th garage floor every time the car was started.

4) Pulley failure.

5) Rear main seal leaked oil.

6) 4x4 gear selector not re- fitted correctly preventing the selection of off road gears.

7) Fuel injectors not coded to the replacement engine - engine running rough.

8) Ongoing metallic knocking noises from within the engine.

9) Engine was burning oil which had to be regularly topped up. Approx 15ltrs over 10,000 kms.

Albeit I was regularly told by both Minshull Mechanical Repairs (Warren) and SuperSpares that the engine was operating within normal parameters, it wasn't and it eventually failed. I immediately contacted Warren at Minshull Mechanical Repairs who recited what I could only call a well rehearsed line being ; " your engine is out of its 12 mth warranty which is noted on your invoice, which covers my liability."

I had an independent Diesel mechanic and a Fuel Injector Service shop both assess the engine, with the end result being:

1) A replacement engine

2) A replacement turbo

3) A replacement set of four new fuel injectors.

Both their reports challenged the supposed quality of workmanship and products used by Minshull Mechanical Repairs and SuperSpares.

In conclusion, I can only but say - TREAD CAREFULLY and THINK LONG and HARD about the services and or products you are being offered.

very poor quality work! my advise is DON'T GO THERE, if you do make sure you check their work!
i had canopy & side steps/bars installed, when i picked up the car all looked good so i paid the bill, $5,200. when got home & checked underneath the vehicle, I saw that the brackets that attached the step to the chassis was not done correctly, they had put seven washers on the drivers side because it didn't fit correctly. I went back & spoke with them, who told me he would check what could be done to fix it & get back to me.
I waited 4 weeks & no contact. i decided to take the steps off myself & try to figure it out. It soon became apparent they had put the brackets on the wrong way round, left hand side was on the right & vice versa. lucky i had to take them off because they had gone rusty where the brackets were clamped onto the bull bar, they didn't remove the metal filings when they drilled the holes, so had left all the metal fillings to rust. I went back to complain & they told me they would fix it, i gave them the side bars & they told me they would order new ones & then respray my Bull bar. Again i gave them two weeks & decided to go see if the bars had arrived.
They checked to see what had been ordered. He found that nothing had been ordered & that the manager was now on holiday. Again they ordered the new parts, after waiting a further 2 weeks the parts arrived & after a heated discussion they had my car for 3 days to fix the job they had done. I picked the car up on Friday, they had not followed my instructions but again it looked ok. two days later i took off the bars to inspect them & again they had left metal fillings that had already started to rust.
the bull bar had not been prepped & sprayed like they told me they had done, it had been touched up with a bit of paint. I called the owner & told him what i had found, he said he was too busy to talk & told me to clean it up myself & put some grease on it these guys are a joke don't go there!

Awesome car repairs !
As a backpacker who travell around Australia you are always afraid to be ripped of by car repairers !
the staff and the boss (Warren) were very friendly and effective ! They did a great job on our van at a very reasonable price. And on the top of that they explained and shown us what they did on our car.
In a nutshell a very good and reliable car repairs
