When changing the "Brand Name" from "Fitness First" to "Good Life Health Clubs" and forcing us to accept the new terms by swapping our old "Fiteness First" cards to the new trading name of "Good Life Health Clubs" whilst still being owned by the same parent company "Fitness & Lifestyle Group" I realised this was a bout revenue raising and paying the same fees for less inclusions. By accepting the new terms we would lose interstate access which we use a lot on our travels for work and family to NSW and VIC especially. Not to mention the payments now are being taken by a new "brand" which means terms have changed and transactions are illegal. These are going to be reversed by the bank, I suggest you do the same if yu are facing the same issue. See my letter to them below:
Dear Fitness & Lifestyle Group (“Fitness First” / “Good Life”),
We would like to issue the below statement about our membership terms which I have not yet accepted by swapping my “Fitness First” membership and card over to “Good Life”. I understand your strategy to change names is largely revenue based, but as per the terms of a contract, I believe my needs must be fulfilled to the end of that term.
With update of your “Brand Name” to “Good Life”, we are no longer allowed to use “Fitness First Clubs” in other states as originally offered throughout our membership and contract. As we both have family and travel for work to numerous states around Australia, especially NSW and VIC, your updated “Trading Name” changes the terms, conditions, and inclusions in the contract.
We insist to continue using our below memberships as contractually bound with no changes to any membership details or pricing.
We are not prepared to accept your terms until our memberships are honoured. Due to this reason, we have been denied entry to “Good Life Carina Heights” (“Fitness First Carindale”) until we accept the new membership card, which means we accept your new terms. Your changes have put our health and fitness on hold until you can continue our contracted memberships, whilst still being getting charged, but no longer by “Fitness First”, now by “Good Life”. Any and all charges made by “Fitness & Lifestyle Group” rebranded as “Good Life” and not by “Fitness First” are not warranted and therefore illegal transactions.
We reference your terms and conditions as signed and agreed to as “Fitness First” members, not “Good Life” members: https://www.fitnessfirst.com.au/terms-and-conditions/
Please advise in response your reply and acceptance of continuing our membership with the brand and it’s inclusions as accepted under membership numbers quoted above.
