QT Tiling & Sealing Pty Ltd

We used QT Tiling & Sealing for our beautiful natural stone travertine tiles in our new rear balcony that measures 7 x 5 metres in November 2021, only to have them all taken up in June 2022.



The reason being, was that he didn't use a flexible adhesive which we asked him to use while quoting as we have wooden joists sitting below. Stephen didn't listen and used a cement adhesive which was ridged blaming the fault on the retailer he brought it from. We had vertical cracks forming from the front of the balcony to the rear of the balcony, three weeks after having the tiles put down together with leaks in quite a few place as the waterproofing was not done satisfactorily. He didn't do the expansion joints that should have been done when tiling above the existing expansion joints in the substrate sheeting. Other tilers we had for quotes, could clearly see the expansion joints, and quoted accordingly.



Stephen agreed to take the flooring up after trying to do the expansion joints where more cracks happened vertically once again blaming the retailer for the product he purchased. I would have thought a business owner being in the industry for some time would not need a



We had the floor taken up (see attached photo) over a long ongoing process of turning up, then not turning up when he should have when the weather was fine as he was doing other jobs because they had been waiting 1 month! We have been waiting since November 2021 to have this job finished and to get it right!



Through this process Stephen has put a hole in the substrate (see photo attached), which my husband had to fix, as he said it was our problem and not his (after he put the hole in it). We have had to fill a lot of the holes ourselves in the substrate as they weren't filled to our satisfaction which could cause further leaks, and we had to clean up after each time he was here.



The last morning that he was here we told him specifically to use the good tiles that were left over and not used the cracked tiles that were presently sitting around on the balcony. When he had left that day, we found that three cracked tiles were used on the landing. I tried to contact him straight away to return about the cracked tiles, but he didn't return my call. When he arrived the next morning, my husband had taken up the cracked tiles and adhesive and told him to replace them with the good tiles. His attitude was shocking with the swearing, (not very professional I would think for being a business owner) that went on, and this wasn't the first time this had happened through the repair job.



After his performance we told him not to come back to finish the job as we couldn't have that attitude around our family and neighbours.



Stephen still owes us $1928.07 for the replacement stone and materials, which he hasn't paid, and we will be taking further action to recover these costs.



This has caused us a lot of pain and disappointment. If the job was done properly in the first place, we would never have had to go through this and have the tiles replaced.



My advice is, never take the cheapest quote as there are usually consequences sooner or later for doing so.

We engaged Steve to update our laundry that was built back in the 70's. You can imagine the mammoth task uplifting tiny olive green/brown floor tiles!



Steve was so helpful with new tile choices and the end result was perfect. He takes the time to understand what it is you want and delivers a quality job. We'd highly recommend his services; a true tradesman of worth.

We asked for help as not good at deciding & he gave us several great ideas for our 2 bathrooms and the tiles & colours he suggested look amazing !

His team were organised efficiently & we were kept up to date at all times and were impressed with Steve’s attention to detail.



The pricing was also very reasonable for the quality of work we received.

I used Steve and it was one mistake after another. I asked for a niche to be fitted to my main bathroom, this was not done. I asked him to reinstall the bath, which he forgot. I had to buy a free standing bath, which after his direction I purchased one to suit. On installation the bath was too big and the wrong hand which meant I had issues with the supplier, who Steve had recommended, and ended up having to purchase a more expensive bath and not what I had wanted. I asked for a niche to be installed in my en-suite which which was done however when the plumber came to install the shower head and stem the niche was in the wrong place for the plumber and the shower stem cover the niche making it virtually useless. Each time I asked him to fix the errors his response was to ask for cash payments over the original quoted price. In early November I asked Steve to return and fix a few minor issues and complete job as per quote. He has refused to answer any of my calls or texts and now I have to pay another tradesman to complete his shoddy workmanship. The mistake I made was I trusted him as he is a work colleagues husband and paying for work prior to completion, as he claimed he needed the payment to complete the work and continued to ask for cash payments. One of the things I felt most uncomfortable with is that he continually asked for hugs when he left, this made me feel very uncomfortable and I felt this to be very inappropriate and unprofessional.

Steve from QT Tiling was fantastic. He delivered what he promised with no fuss. He was professional and very helpful using his knowledge when it came to choosing the colour and size of the tiles. I would recommend Steve to any one. For a great job and price QT tiling made my renovations easy. Thanks
