Coburg Aquarium

The older staff have a wide knowledge of both marine and freshwater and will happily answer your questions. The store is huge and they have a wide variety of fish, snails, shrimp, corals and plants (marine and freshwater). They even have a small reptile room!

They are my go-to place for all my aquarium needs.

Staff pleasant and helpful. Owner greedy and mean spirited. No customer loyalty.

Store is great as an LFS (I live 2 mins drive away) with a big range but customer service can be hit and miss. Dropped nearly $100 on some new fish stock for my community tank today and was helped with some good customer service.

2 hours later, one of the mollies I purchased was already dead so I've taken it back with a sample of water. Because it had never happened to me before, I didn't know that you were supposed to have a separate sample of water and regardless, I had tested my water before coming in just to be sure, knowing full well my water is within the correct parameters.

I was first assisted by somebody who seemed to be a delivery driver who couldn't get rid of me fast enough (fair enough if that is not his area of expertise) but I was then handed over to a girl who was extremely confrontational about the inconvenience it was that I had brought a fish back in the sample water. She was very aggressive in the way she told me that it has to be separated as the dead fish leaches ammonia into the water... I'm sure that a maximum of 5 mins between being put in the bag and being tested wouldn't have made a huge amount of difference on a fish that cost $3.95.

Luckily, somebody a bit older and with more common sense and more experience told her not to worry about testing the water and replaced the fish. Final result was satisfactory but it was a real pain to get there. I might need to stop being lazy and drive to other places with better customer service next time.

Hi its trish diprose I ordered fish from Coburg aquarium and was very pleased with the time I got my fish and they sevice is great thank you coburg aquarium my upside down catfish and clown loaches and fontosas are well yours trish even they did forget to chang my name on box I still got them well packed to trish diprose f redcliffs vic xx give a 10out of 10 thanks

Very expensive and Unfair. They charged me twice a real price of a external filter (460$ for a 230$ filter). I realized next day and complained and responded "how do you expect that we can run this business if we don't charge customer like this". Always be careful and check the real price before going there.

Shopped here a couple of weeks back for some aquarium plants. Whilst the place is brilliantly stocked, the staff seemed a little unsure their advice, and many lacked basic customer service skills. One staff member that did serve me treated me like I was an inconvenient distraction to the conversation he was having with another employee. I didn't interrupt them and waited to be served!

I'm a beginner to tropical fish keeping and it's a good thing I did a little research before shopping here. I had to tell the staff what I needed to start up a planted aquarium, not the other way around!

Also noted that their betta are kept in TINY cups. I\'m sure a few were dead and many appeared sick. I hate to think of what the ammonia levels are in those cups. The store also sells tiny tanks, no more than half a litre, that are meant to be OK to keep betta in. This is absolutely not true! These fish need at least 5 litres of water (ideally more than 20), a heater, filter and places to hide. SORT THIS OUT COBURG AQUARIUM, they way you keep your betta is plain animal cruelty! Most other tanks seemed overstocked. Compared to other stores many items and livestock are very expensive.

Overall it was a disappointing experience shopping here.

This place is wonderful. Great customer service, heaps of fish, reasonable prices and good variety of everything.

If your going to buy anything to do with fish, definitely come here.
