IGA Supermarkets

Craigie IGA has done away with its cigarette counter. Now you have to enter this store from the other end and make your way to the front counter and line up with mutliple people buying multiple items.

This means that if you wish to purchase 1 packet of cigarettes that usually takes less than 1 minute you have to wait up to 10 minutes to become served. I asked the check out operator why this change of service came about and was told that each operator had access to only 1 register and could not log on to any others. I went on to explain that I could drive 3 minutes away to COLES in Bellridge and purchase the same item at a cheaper price without waiting for every other person in the store to have dozens of items processed ahead of me. I was then told that its the store policy of IGA in Craigie and there is nothing that can be done about it.

Seems IGA in Craigie have put their loyal customers second to themselves. I admit I have only been shopping at this store for over 20 years but I have concluded that its time to go elsewhere for my cigarettes and groceries. I am in my 60,s and have many friends in my age group who have already made the switch to shop elsewhere. Its just NOT the same place any more....Please bring back Norma and the previous policies that were much more customer focused but until then its goodbye from me and goodbye from other locals.

PS I am wondering why there never seems to be any posts on the comment page that stays up for more than a day or two. Could it be that there are no positive comments? Hmmmmm
