Billy Kwong Chinese Eating House

The new Billy Kwong's just opened two weeks ago and builds on the old Surry Hills place beautifully. If you can insist on seats at the bar watching Kylie and her team in the kitchen. The pace and precision is mesmerising.

Don't be disappointed if you sit at one of the standard tables as the food is still the star here (with excellent service). But if you are the type who wants to be close to the action and within feet of Kylie herself then insist on seats at the bar (and just check she's leading the team on the night as it's hard to imagine she's working 7 nights at such a popular and frenetic place). We sat at the corner of the bar which is perfect viewing. As always Kylie and her team didn't disappoint.

After the initial one and a half hour wait to get seated, we were pleasantly surprised with our experience. We started with the siu mai with pomegranate sauce and the san choy bao which were both delicious. We followed this with the braised wallaby tail and sticky sauce and the pork belly... Suffice to say, we polished all dishes and had no room for dessert. The staff were incredibly attentive and friendly.
