Moonah Links is a long, very challenging 36 hole public and private course on land that is typical rolling links land. The Open and Legends courses are wonderfully designed. The Legends is shorter and more fun. A couple of the Open holes are just a bit long for the average player and have many vicious bunkers. I must admit that when I play Moonah Links I am proud that Australians could create and maintain such a world class venue and that is still accessible at prices that are cheap by any sort of world standards. It is a treat to spoil yourself with a round at Moonah once or twice a year. I suggest taking a day off mid-week on a calm day in one of the cooler months. After a lot of rain it stays dry because it is a classic links course so is perfectly well drained. Often it can be raining in Melbourne down to Mount Martha but fine at Moonah. One thing I don't like about it is that couple of the par fours on the Open course are just a bit too long for me - on a hard day I can hit a drive and a wood and still not make the green. If you are considering this course you might also consider St Andrews Beach, The Dunes, Sorrento, or Portsea.
