I have played St Andrews Beach four times and am in awe of it. Perhaps after the National's Moonah and Old Courses, I think St Andrews Beach is the hardest course I have played. Holes such as the third (very long windy par 4 where you need to hit a 2 iron through a tiny perched gap between trees) will challenge even top golfers. Many of the holes require perfect approaches - otherwise your ball will always run off the edge. The course is always in immaculate condition - the greens are smooth and often fast. It costs $80 to $90 to play but is worth it. Extremely testing in a strong wind. The rough is very thick. I love it because it is a real test of your ability.
