Got these guys out to put up a new roof on my property. Initially and overall the roof is great. However, when we went to put in the ceilings in one of the shops, it was out by about 50mm between the two walls. We couldnt put in the gyprock because it was so far out.



Matt's solution to the problem he created was for me to pay for more materials to fix it up. Or to fob me off and say its within tolerences, which it clearly isnt. He even tried to tell me, in third person, thats thow he would have done it, despite him doing it. We have since had to put in a rondo system costing $1000 in materials plus several days labour to install and correct.



You can tell from looking at where the ceiling joists are installed that he was too lazy to chip off a bit of motar and install them in the right place. He didnt even use a laser to establish level around the room. On the occassion that he tried to sort it out with me he contradicted himself at least 4 times. He doesnt even know the standard of AS 1684 which is the building standard he is trying to conform to and quotes it as AS 1964, flippantly stating it as a typo. Yet its written on his quote.



His explanation was based on the fact that he followed where the steel beams were placed, yet he moved another steel beam, located in the kitchen in another part of the building on at least two separate occassions. His joists in the shop are higher than the steel beams, which he was too lazy to move or too lazy to put his joists underneath.



My advice is to choose another carpenter as the re-work if required and rectification by this business is non-existent. Words such as shoddy and rough spring to mind. I regret now passing him onto another friend, where he did a rough job also.



I have proposed a fair remuneration given the problems and yet he simply ignores any further correspondence. Be wary and avoid this business.
