Repairs done incorrectly and badly - No intention to follow ACT Consumer Laws. Be aware!

In November 2022 I had my toilet seat replaced as to orders by an occupational therapist report advising that the existing toilet seat was unsuited for a disabled person. The company William Edmund at Kingston in the ACT did the replacement of the toilet seat and installed a new one. After about 5 months the seat came loose and I company fastened the seat. A short while after the same happened again and the seat was fastened. In April 2023 the same happened the seat came loose and was repaired as I thought under the ACT Consumer Laws free of charge during the one year guaranteed time for work and product. This did not happen, I was charged $80 for the repair. About a week later the toilet seat came loose again and the plumber attended again and replaced the seat against a factory new one. This was unnecessary as the seat was in good working order only the fasteners were again loose as to shonky workmanship. This time I received another invoice for the new seat and workmanship for $195.80. I disagreed about the invoice. However, and this is interesting to know that the workmanship lasted this time only for two days and the entire new seat came loose again.

The company does not recognise the ACT Consumer Laws and ignores my complaint and insist that the fault is on my site as I am not capable to use a toilet seat in my over 80 years of age.

In my entire life, I have never seen such bad and unprofessional workmanship and was billed for it. It looks as this is another money spinner the plumbing industry is so famous for.

Result: The case will go now to the ACT Administrative Tribunal for a hearing and judgement and I hope that another plumber will be able to fasten my rather badly installed toilet seat. I still have hopes.

Poor service would avoid

they were rude and unprofessional. Got another plumber to sort it out.

Bottom line - a tradesman without a website/no results on google/no social media...they are just cowboys who do dodgy work.

And it's not because they are of the older generation who aren't good with technology because you can find plenty of them running legitimate good businesses practicing their trades.

Avoid cowboys, don't pay dodgy tradies

Poor customer service

Came to fix a broken tap. Not happy to discuss the job from a customer centric view and left with the recommendation to call another plumber to get the job done.

Avoid at all costs... or it will cost you

After hours of trying to clear a sewer line the diagnosis was to dig everything up and replace it at a cost of thousands of $. Conveniently they could do this the next day! I got another plumber in for a second opinion and he cleared the drain in 30 minutes... he suggested there were certain plumbers he followed around that if their excavators weren't already booked to jobs, easy jobs suddenly turned into super expensive ones... draw your own conclusion as to what happened here but I'll never use them again.
