I brought a Don ham (highly recommended by one of the staff there) from Pako Meats for Christmas day lunch. There was a red pinkish cavity between the fat and meat. I cut into the leg and it did not look right.
On serving the ham, the remarks from my family were, the ham is very dry and has a very very bad after taste.
I returned the ham to the shop and told my story to the shop owner, who replied with I have been here for 30 years and there is nothing wrong with the ham, At a cost of $103.00 we feel ripped of by this butcher shop.
We asked for the butcher to send the ham back to Don small goods, (where we understand that they purchase their hams from) to be taste tested. There was no answer to that request!
I found him very intimidating and very out of touch with a good tasting meat
30 years too long?
