Had them replace my heals on a pair of RM Williams boots. Then when their new heel fell off after only wearing them 3 times, they said it was a manufacturer fault!
Told me I was an idiot, so I walked out.

Learnt something unfortunately useful today from the Office Of Business and Consumer Affairs. If you require a service, you need to make sure the business gives you an invoice or receipt or they are unable to help you. I really don't like being so negative about a business, but this one is simply the worst I have ever dealt with. I had visited Burnside Shoe Repair and Engraving in Burnside Village in the row of shops near Greenhill Road, to have what seemed to me to be a simple task - to shorten 5 belts. The owner ended up cutting two of them so short that they could not be used. After months of promising to replace them and pay me back, I worked out they were not going to take responsibility for the damage they did. In fact, the owner said "He had more important things to do than worry about a couple of belts". He has no insurance, and made no apology about the damage. He tried to hide what he did by adding some leather to the belts hoping I would not notice. Because I didn't pay for them and no invoice was issued, OCBA cannot do anything so this business gets away with ruining a customers property. The owner pretends he had nothing to do with it and OCBA cannot help any further. Make sure you get a written quote and invoice if you are leaving anything valuable to be worked on by a business. Avoid this place. Hopeless, nasty person and terribly inept business.
