Furkids Veterinary Surgery

I had hoped for better. Even our first visit was marred by a senior vet who told me how bad my dog was because he growled. I did advise he did not like being touched and I had my own muzzle. The vet made me feel like a horrible pet parent. Next visit was regarding medication - We were told it would be best for them to hang onto the script and it was $45 for a bottle (1 month supply) from the vet but if we paid $50 and they would give us the script to be filled at the chemist which would be approx $11 for a 1 month supply. Coming from a country town we had never paid for a script if we were to take it a chemist ... what a rip off... however looking at other vets in Brisbane we realise it's normal practice, but other vets charge between $21 and $30. When we wanted the rest of the medication they argued the point saying my dog needed a 6 monthly consultation. They agreed to give us the 2 bottles of medication and the next day they refused giving us only 1 bottle because we were trying to reduce the dosage. In the end it was too much, we are now with a more friendly vet practice who is listening to our needs.

IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A CARING VET JO IS NO LONGER!! STAFF AND JO PUSH EXPENSIVE VIDEO AND ATTEMPT TO SELL $5,000 UNNECESSARY SURGERY. I BOUGHT MY DOG BACK AFTER DESEXING REQUESTING STITCHES AND A VET CHECK. AFTER 15MINS OF YOU SHOWING ME PICS OF OTHER DOGS WITH ISSUES I ASKED IF MY DOG NEEDS THAT SURGERY? WHICH MY DOG DID NOT!! YOU SAID IT CAN EXTEND HIS LIFE! SO JO FOCUS ON THE ANIMALS AND NOT THE MONEY TRAIN! ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING WE GO TO VETS FOR HELP NOT TO LISTEN TO SALES PITCHES AND WATCH YOU ROLL YOUR EYES ABOUT BREEDERS! SUCH A SHAME YOU USE TO BE COMPASSIONATE ABOUT ANIMALS! NOT TO MENTION I HAVE HAD BULLDOGS BEFORE I PURCAHSED THIS 2YR OLD DOG 6 WEEKS AGO. WE ARE GIVING HIM A STABLE HOME AND ALL YOU AND YOU STAFF HAVE DONE IS HARASS US WITH CALLS TRYING TO SELL VIDEO'S AND SURGERY! SHAME ON YOU!!

Today I have to put my 2 small mini foxies to sleep because they had a disease called CUSHINGS ,and I went to fur kids and saw Claire ( omg she had a heart of gold ) ....she took the time to tell me wat was going to happen and was so sympathetic and she was talking to me while she was putting them to sleep ( yes I didn’t handle it to well ) however she was great and so was the other lady helping her( can’t recall her name ) I’m sorry



Also to Caitlin the receptionist ( u also had a heart of gold ) every time I called she took the time to explain to me the answered I had to my questions I had .



If I ever get another dog ( right now I won’t be ) but if I do I would certainly be going to see them .

Some of the staff were rude and when questioning about the price which was higher than what i was told. The vet told me if iwasnt happy go to another vet clinic.

I have been going to Furkids for many years now. As a breeder of British and Aussie Bulldogs. From general health care, reproduction and whelping. I can honestly say I would not breed without Jo and the rest of the team at Furkids.

No matter what breed they always go above and beyond. Not to mention affordable rates...because they care about the animals. Lower prices means every animal can get the love and care they need.

The awesome team also works along side an animal rescue...because every animal/pet needs good health and a forever home.

It is reviews like this that help spread the word. I have recommended many breeders and local puppy owners who also take their furbabies to Furkids. We have not looked back xxx

I was recommended this practice by a friend and I have to comment on it's excellence. I have had issues with my puppies limping leg for months and went to two different vets who couldn't assess where the pain was coming from. Within first glance, the Vet I saw at this practice noticed both her legs had pain and also pointed out that her stance was abnormal, something that none of the other vets noticed but was actually quite obvious. I'm also really happy with how she took the time to talk through all of the options I had without pushing expensive procedures on me like the other vets did.
