DO NOT TRUST THESE GUYS!

Had GA&T service and replace the timing belt and water pump to my Toyota Prado recently. Everything seemed well done at the time and I paid in full on site which was in excess of $1000. After the service, on the way to Geraldton, the car broke down 30 kms out of Jurien Bay. Upon inspection under the bonnet I found the idle tensioner to have completed unscrewed and luckily I had stopped or else the engine would have blown up as the fan belt was all but ripped to shreds.

After getting towed back to Jurien bay for a mechanic to look over the car and fix it, it was found that the tensioner had indeed not been "torqued" properly at the service. I have since employed the service of another independent mechanic who mirrors this claim and both have stated that this tensioner would have been removed for the water pump to be replaced. I rang and spoke to the owner of GA&T and at the initial stage he was helpful and wanted photos. I have supplied these, showing the issues but he refuses to even admit fault, let alone offer to help me out in what has been an expensive and extremely stressful time.

The owner will not take responsibility for his workshops mistake, and because of this I have started a claim with the ACCC.

I have been more than fair in simply asking them to admit even some fault in this issue in which they have buried their heads in the sand and pretend it never happened as I am now in Geraldton.



Heads up to anyone thinking of using this service as they obviously do not have procedures in place that double or triple check any important aspects they have worked on, on their clients cars, plus their after sales support is non existent. Don't get stuck like I am, avoid these clowns.
