I love shopping local and supporting local traders, often paying more for product such as I have done with Giggle Shoes over the last 15 years. I had an issue many years ago with a damaged pair of black leather boots. Following a lengthy process I was finally "allowed" a replacement pair. I remained a customer putting this down to a "one off" incident, until last week. I purchased a pair of boots for my daughters Birthday, being the next day. Typically what I liked and her fashion sense are a generation apart! So much so they didn't even come out of the box. I went back to Giggle Shoes the next day, less than 24 hours after the time of purchase. This time taking princess with me to choose an alternative pair. Simple process I thought, until every option was exhausted. Oh where to go from here? One specific sales assistant was delightful but several times the sales assistant had to scurry out to the back office for authority, never once did the management wish to come out and have a chat with me directly. I finally asked to talk to them and what I got rendered me (and the three 12 year old girls with me) gobsmacked, until now!! One quote was "Imagine if I had to keep coming out here and speaking to people like yourself"!!!!!! (Ahhh, I think that would be an (ex)customer of yours.. Oh and... "don't you read the signs"..no refund in 12pt font. Unable to continue a conversation I walked with my $170 credit note.. I accept that legally I may not have been entitled to a refund but morally I thought, considering the circumstances, it would have been the obvious thing to do to ensure my ongoing loyalty. So Goodbye Giggle Shoes, you have destroyed my commitment to you. I look forward to voicing my discontentment to anyone that will listen and never stepping foot in your store again. Stores that surround you know how to ensure repeat business. I hope that $170 was worth it! You have now converted me to online shopping with a very reasonable returns policy.
