Short version of my review would come to the following points
*cheap
*doesn't “do perfect”
*took fair tradings inspection and report to get tolerable quality
Full version:
We had a bathroom that needed everything done after having asbestos wall sheeting removed. We had the majority of materials with the plan of putting the bathroom back together ourselves, which we realised was too much work. During the quote, Ron was charming and spoke of the quality workers he had available. His quote was very reasonable and we signed him up the day of the quote. We had no complaints until the tiling was started. Any time I mentioned that it wasn't looking good I got a heap of excuses. At the time I was in agony with kidney stones and on quite strong pain killers and now feel like that was taken advantage of. I was in no state to argue. The person tiling even said at one point that he was “not very good at tiling”. By the time it was done we had chipped tiles laid in places, a shower floor that didn't drain properly, and wonky tiles every where.
After asserting that we refused to pay until the job was properly finished, we were told that “we don't do perfection” and this is what you get for a cheap job. I kid you not, he actually used the words “we don't do perfection” more than once. That resulted in taking each other to fair trades, his complaint being I refused to pay him, mine being he refused to finish the job. Unfortunately, the inspector only agreed with some of our complaints.
The newer tiler was good at his job when he was there. We had more than one day where I sat around wondering where he was. The job was then called finished with a small hole in the wall, and a small part of the job not done. Not wanting to deal with these people any more has left Hubby and I choosing to finish ourselves.
Overall we're not impressed. We've contemplated taking him to tribunal but have chosen not to at this point. The poor quality work, combined with the stress we've gone through has made the great price not worth it at all.
