Watch It Watch Repairs

My watch was handed in for repairs, over 1mth ago. I was not given a receipt but he has my phone number but no call has been received from him. That is a long time waiting.

This business does not have a good name according to others who have used him.

Do not go to this guy. I took my watch in and he told me it needed a whole new mechanism which would cost me $170.

2 weeks later he still hadn’t ordered the part. So I picked it back up and took it to the key guys in halls head... $28 and it was fixed. All it needed was the dust blown out and a new battery!

So the watch it guy tried to rip me off!

I gave an earlier poor review. While it took a while to complete, the clock is now functioning well. There were a series of missteps. However, in order to finalise the issue, the clock maker made the effort (twice) to come to our home to review the clock in situ and then later to finally install the clock. That's made the difference. Also, while at our home, he identified that the surface the clock was sitting on wasn't perfectly level (a very big issue with mantle clocks it seems). So, in summary, I've revised my opinion. It's not the fastest service, but he's a clearly a competent clock maker.

The winding mechanism on my french clock broke. I paid a premium ($650) to have it fixed by this clockmaker. Unfortunately, after months of taking the clock backwards and forwards to his store (and having it sitting on his shelf for weeks), it remains largely unrepaired. The clock is running, but it's running slow (minutes a day) and the chiming mechanism still doesn't work. He says that he's a qualified clock maker and I believe him, but based on his performance on this job I couldn't possibly recommend him for any complex job I've written it off as a bad experience. I'll be taking the clock to another clock maker. I think that he can do small jobs (quite well, in fact), but larger more complex jobs don't seem to suit him. A nice man, but not someone I'll go to again.
